Laser Radial Makes Debut

ISAF World Sailing Rankings

The first ranking release of 2005 for the Olympic Classes is on 2 February 2005, counting events up to and including Rolex Miami OCR.
The Laser Radial made its debut entry on the ISAF World Sailing Rankings at the ISAF Grade 3 St Nicholas Race in Pula, with Tina MIHELIC (CRO) taking the series.

Moving downunder, and the Laser Radial took its place at the ISAF Grade 1 Sydney International Regatta, with the series won by Krystal WEIR (AUS). Krystal claimed a silver medal at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in 2003, and is currently the defending Laser Radial Women’s World Champion.

Back to European waters, it was onto the ISAF Grade 2 Christmas Race in Palamos, Spain, where another former medallist from the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships, Charlotte DOBSON (GBR), took the series. A bronze medallist in 2004, Charlotte was chased hard by former Europe campaigners Christiane de NIJS (GER) and Petra NIEMANN (GER)

With four more events to go before the ranking release on 2 February, and the events covering 5 countries, and four continents, it will be an interesting line-up of sailors on the inaugural rankings.
