I like the adventure of sailing, the different challenges, being with like minded people, the technology and the romance of being at sea. |

Capt James Cook and, being a navigator, Matthew Flanders! The charts he made centuries ago are still being used today. |

It is a great honour, particularly when everyone in the sport are by their nature such high achievers. |

| If voted as the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year 2002, briefly say what will this mean to you? |
It will be a great achievement not just for me but for my family and friends who support my career and ambitions. Being respected by your peers in the sailing community is very important for me. It has been a tough career path and it would represent a great reward for the hard work. |
Surprised again and an even bigger honour since I did not expect even to be nominated. |
