Today was the registration day and with the water in front of the club showing all signs of a great regatta. The white caps and the clouds indicating that the Northerly monsoons will be with the sailors for the next few days.

The international sailors went out to practice in the warm waters of Thailand and bought a smile from those from the cooler parts of the world.

The promotion of Hobie Cat in the South East Region has been a success with sailors from Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Oman, Australia, Germany, France, United Kingdom and Sweden.

This would be one of the biggest collection of overseas sailors to attend a Hobie Asian Championship.

The early favourite would be Peter and Juliet Bates who only 2 weeks ago won the Hong Kong Hobie Championships. But as always with the strict one design racing of the Hobie 16 all the competitors will have an equal chance to show their skills.
