Seven of the nine boats which started this XX “Buenos Aires – Rio de Janeiro” Ocean Race, have arrived already after 1200 miles of tough racing in the Río de la Plata and the South Atlantic.

It was a rather “slow” race with light winds prevailing which imposed an enormous amount of concentration and a permanent effort to maintain pressure and speed on the boat. The work of helmsmen, trimmers and navigators have earnt a great “Well done!”. No doubt the sail changes and manoeuvers had been infinite. Our special praise goes to the three boats that raced with a crew of only two sailors, especially “Manila-Biogenesis” and “Mistico”.

Equally interesting was the private dual between the two naval boats, “Fortuna II” of Argentina´s Navy and “Marlin-Petrobras” of Brazil´s Navy. Also important was the struggle between “Utopía”, “Cosa Nostra” and “Fanfarrón II”, which resulted in the victory of the last mentioned.

At the time of writing only two boats have yet to cross the finish line.
