Cork’s Maria Coleman was rewarded for her outstanding performances when she was presented with the Cork Dry Gin Sailor of the Year award in Dublin, Ireland yesterday.
The 34-year-old Baltimore Europe sailor, who has climbed to second in the ISAF Olympic Class World Rankings, received Irish sailing’s most prestigious award from Philippe Savinel, Chief Executive of Irish Distillers.
Coleman flew in from Miami to collect the award, having taken a podium position in last week’s Europe 6 class division of Miami Olympic classes regatta at Biscayne Bay in Florida.
Coleman is ranked second in the ISAF Olymipc Class World Rankings in the demanding Olympic Europe class, the highest ever placing for an Irish sailor.
