In a simple piece of administrative housekeeping the America’s Cup Protocol has been modified jointly, by the Defender and Challenger of Record.
The Protocol, the document that governs the rules, format and timing of the challenger selection series and the America’s Cup, had been rather too specific about the number of boats that would compete in the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Finals. It had also specified two Semi-Final rounds resulting in some nomenclature confusion.
The modified paragraph, article 6.2 b) has been deleted and replaced with:
“Following the round robins there will be quarter-finals and thereafter semi-finals. The participants in the quarter-finals will be the eight top scorers as a result of the round robins referred to in Article 6.2 (a). The quarter-finals and semi-finals shall be conducted on a seeded ladder basis, which may include repechages, to be determined by the Challengers and approved by the RNZYS.”
