Pushing south, the current could have caused a good proportion of illbruck’s eight-mile loss on Amer Sports One.
Djuice seems to have solved what Knut Frostad called a ‘speed problem’ after finishing leg 3 in Auckland. He promised some more sail development and on this leg the pink yacht kept the pace with the other yachts in all conditions encountered so far. The close racing with ASSA ABLOY should help both yachts, as the visual contact will put both crews on higher alert than just the numbers from the onboard computer displayed on deck.
News Corp has added three miles to the safety zone that protects her against Amer Sports Too’s desire to overtake before finishing in Rio. 250 miles will be hard to gain on the 640 miles that News Corp has left to sail, barring no further technical problems.
