Perfect conditions Invitation Race

The Australian Keelboat Championships started in perfect 10 to 15 knots for the Invitation Race.

The defending IRC champion EUN-NA-MARA sailed by Nick Chapman showed that he would be hard to beat once again with a win by 2 minutes and 16 seconds over TICKET OF LEAVE, Kevin Wood, and TOECUTTER Robert Hick.

PHS Division was won by HORIZON SPRINT, Frank Hammond by 2mins 45seconds over SLEDGEHAMMER, Alyn Stevenson and BREATHLESS, Leigh Causby 2 seconds away in third place.

The Championships are the sailing event of the year
in the Gulf of St Vincent, South Australia.

The Championships are held from 23-28 February 2002. This gives ample opportunity after major east coast and Sail Melbourne events for boats to make their way to Adelaide to compete. As an added bonus, it will be followed immediately by the prestigious 52nd Quin’s Blue Water Classic Adelaide to Lincoln yacht race and regatta boasting one of the largest offshore fleets in Australia.

All races are conducted off North Haven, held over four days, consisting of a series of four double headers, windward/leeward courses and one longer race of approximately five hours duration.
