The first two races of the IMS Mediterranean Championship were completed of Punta Ala Italy yesterday in light breezes that saw only five boats finish within the time limit of the second race.
Victory for the day went to Stefano SPANGARO’S X-Sport with a first and a third for the day’s racing. The other winner of the second race was Jose Cusi’s Bribon, who has the added pleasure of entertaining His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain over the next few days.
28 boats from five competing nations will race a combination of windward/leeward, coastal and offshore courses over the next four days, the event finishes on Saturday, 7 June.
Today sees the start of an offshore race in which the fleet will sail a 24 hour course. With light winds predicted throughout, it could be a long day at sea, especially for the smaller boats. Full resulta are available on the event website at the address below.
