Second Day of Racing

Benji BORG was joint leader with Monaco’s Matthieu MARIANI in the Optimist Class, while Mario AQUILINA was sharing the lead with another Monaco sailor, Damien Desprat LERALE, in the Laser Standard Class.

But even Peter Valentino was doing well in the Laser Radial Class as he is occupying second place behind Monaco’s Andrea ORLANDO.

In the Optimist Class, Borg and Mariani are figuring in a tough battle and it seems obvious, at least till now, that these two sailors will be contesting the gold medal.

Both have six points so far and both have registered two first and two second places.

Also of great satisfaction for local sailors is the fact that in this class, Malta’s Matthew Fleri SOLER is occupying third place with 14 points, having finished third in three races and once ending up in fifth place.

In the Laser Radial Class, Andrea ORLANDO of Monaco has taken the lead on just five points, compared to second placed Peter Valentino of Malta who has 11. Cypriot sailor Angelos COOSGROVE is third on 14.

In the Laser Standard Class, Mario AQUILINA is sharing the lead with Damien Desprat LERALE of Monaco. They both have accumulated 10 points, but Emmanuel Sanchez, also of Monaco, is still menacing them having 12 points in third place.

Aquilina has had two firsts and two fourth place finishes, while Desprat LERALE has had two third and two second place finishes.
