Two Koreas To March Together

Yesterday, the IOC President, Jacques Rogge, met with the delegations from the Korean Olympic Committee and the Olympic Committee of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in Athens.

At the end of the meetings, President Rogge was delighted to confirm that both NOCs have agreed to parade together at the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad on 13 August 2004 in Athens.

The joint parade of the athletes from the two Koreas demonstrates yet again that sport and the Olympic ideal can serve as an instrument to build a peaceful and better world.

Sydney, four years ago
Four years ago, on 15th September 2000, the delegations from South and North Korea marched for the first time together under the same flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXVII Olympiad in Sydney.
