Round Robin Completed

The first round robin in the ISAF Grade 1, Marseille International Match Race concluded yesterday in difficult conditions. 25-30 knot winds with gusts of up to 40 precluded the use of the spinnaker in the middle of the flight series.

Following completion of the first round robin, the race committee consulted with skippers who agreed unanimouslty to stop racing for the day. The strength and shifty nature of the breeze had made the boats too fast for decent match racing and the risk of breakages was high.

After the first day’s racing it was the French dominating the top four, and after the end of the round robin this is still the case, although Karol JABLONSKI (POL) had a good second day, moving up the overall standings to third behind Bertrand PACE (FRA) and Luc PILLOT (FRA)
