Geronimo At 51 Degrees South

An intermediate fix taken at 07:22 GMT today, Wednesday 24 March, showed Geronimo’ s position to be 51°48S, 126°24E.

This puts the Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran at her most southerly point yet on this current Jules Verne Trophy attempt, which she started at 23:17 GMT on 25 February.

Then reporting an actual spot speed of 24.5 knots, the trimaran was still on her east-southeast heading, suggesting that this entry into the Howling Fifties may be just the beginning for Olivier de Kersauson and his crew.

The temperatures recorded on board Geronimo at that time were 7°C (water) and 3.8°C (air). Wrap up warmly, gentlemen!
