JOYON's Intermediate Records Ratified

The World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) has ratified a number of intermediate records achieved by Francis JOYON (FRA) during his record breaking solo round the world voyage.

From 23 November 2007-19 January 2008, Francis JOYON set a new Around the World, Singlehanded record of 57 days, 13 hours, 34 minutes and 6 seconds onboard the trimaran IDEC, smashing the previous mark by over 14 days. During his voyage JOYON also set numerous intermediate records, which have now been ratified by the WSSRC.

Subsequently, on the 6 January 2008, Thomas COVILLE (FRA) established a new record of 619.3 nm, an average speed of 25.8 knots. JOYON therefore held the record over the intermediate period.
