Greeks Continue Lake Garda Domination

Defending Tornado World Champions Iordanis Paschalidis and Kostas Trigonis (GRE) continue to impress at the Tornado Worlds in Lake Garda, Italy following another exceptional day on the water.

The duo, who won last year’s event in Ipsach, Switzerland, have come out flying and in 15 knots of breeze on the second day of racing they recorded two race wins and a second place and hold a six point lead over Matteo Ferraglia and Lorenzo Bianchini (ITA).

It was very much a day for the Greek pair but in the final race of the day they were knocked off their perch in by the new Italian team of Ferraglia and Bianchini who have impressed so far.

Paschalidis and Trigonis were followed in Race 3 by Brett Burvill and Ryan Duffield then class president and treasurer Roland and Nahid Gaebler. The second race of the day, Race 4, saw Martin Rusterholz and Simon Koster (SUI) take second place followed by Burvill and Duffield. Third place in race three went to Manfred Schonleitner and Georg Hirsch-Stronstorff from Austria.

Competition is close throughout the fleet with one bad race meaning you could fall 5 or 6 places in the overall rankings.

With one discard taken into account the top 5 now looks like this:

1. Iordanis Paschalidis and Kostas Trigonis (GRE) – 4pts
2. Matteo Ferraglia and Lorenzo Bianchini (ITA) – 10pts
3. Brett Burvill and Ryan Duffield (AUS) – 12pts
4. Manfred Schonleitner and Georg Hirsch-Stronstorff (AUT) – 17pts
5. David Krizek and Adam Zdenek (CZE) – 19pts

Three races are scheduled for 19 September, you can keep follow the latest news through the Tornado Facebook page www.facebook.com/tornadoclass or Twitter page www.twitter.com/tornadoclass
