After three races at the 2.4mR World Championship in Porto San Giorgio, Italy Swedish sailors occupy six of the top ten spots.
Sweden’s Lennart Heselius holds the lead on an equal 16 points with compatriot Stellan Berlin. Heselius won the opening race of the regatta before finishing eight in the second race of the day and seventh in the third.
Berlin showed signs of consistency in the first two races of the regatta with a third and a second but an 11th in Race 3 brought him level on points with Heselius.
Like Berlin, Finland’s Jan Forsbom was amongst the frontrunners in the first two races and finished behind Heselius in Race 1 before taking the bullet in Race 2. However a 14th in Race 3 brought his points total down.
Behind the Finnish sailor four further Swedish crews remain in contention with just 13 points separating first to tenth.
Six races will be required before the first discard comes into play.
Racing is scheduled to start at 11:00 local time on Thursday 20 September with two race scheduled.
