Twilight Finish On Opening Day Of Platu 25 Worlds
After three competitive races in winds in excess of 25 knots, Euz Monella Vagabonda, owned by Francesco Lanera and helmed by Sandro Montefusco, dominated the opening day of the Platu 25 World Championship in Rosignano, Italy.

Anton and Carlos Paz, sailing Mar de Fredesis, are second overall on 12 points whilst Jose Perez’s Sperry-Coppel Dental is third on 12 points.
A westerly breeze blowing around 6 knots allowed the first race to be get going at 14:30 local time on the opening day. The Francesco Lagirti helmed Hurra dominated the first race and they were followed by Martin Sigrist onbaord Aramis. Motefusco, 2011 Platu 25 World champion and 2012 Italian Champion crossed the finish line in third place.
The second race tested the crews as the wind increased making for tense moments within the 50-boat fleet. Anton and Carlos Paz faced the conditions head on to take the race win followed by Sperry Coppel Dental.
As the wind ramped up the third race of the day concluded at twilight. The Italian boat“Euz Monella Vagabonda reached the finish line as first, followed by the Spanish Fernando Morillo’s Sori helmed by Ramon Oreja.
Racing continues in Rosignano, Italy through to 29 September.
