Team Griffin claim inaugural FAREAST 28R World title

Sweden's Team Griffin Sailing, skippered by Marcus Lofgren, have claimed the inaugural FAREAST 28R World Championships title after 11 races in Malmo, Sweden.

Sweden’s Team Griffin Sailing, skippered by Marcus Lofgren, have claimed the inaugural FAREAST 28R World Championships title after 11 races in Malmo, Sweden.

Lofgren and his team of Martin Strandberg, Björn Jönsson, Johan Lindell and Henrik Ekström, all from Sweden, finished out of the top two only once across the 11 race series.

A DSQ  in the third race of the week, which they discarded, was the only negative of a near perfect week.

Andreas Emmoth (SWE) and his crew on Drake managed to record five race wins over the week but were unable to match the consistency of Lofgren, finishing ten points adrift.

The podium was completed by Maarten Voogd (NED) on Take Care 2.

During the prize giving cermony, Ms Demolar Du, from Shanghai Fareast Boats handed over a brand new FAREAST 28R to Lofgren.

A FAREAST 19R was awarded to Team Drake and Voogd took home a Fareast Racing Optimist.
