The first round of Medal Races start on Day 5 of Ready Steady Tokyo - Sailing.

The first round of Medal Races start on Day 5 of Ready Steady Tokyo – Sailing.

The RS:X Men & Women, 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 fleets will all sail their final race on the penultimate day of the official test event for Tokyo 2020.

And although the forecast did not initially look promising, the latest prediction is that the wind will build nicely in time for the Medal Races.

From 10:00, a north-easterly to south-easterly wind will reach up to 6 knots, before changing direction slightly to southeast-southwest and building to 4-8 knots from 12:00.

An hour later from 13:00, the wind will increase further to 6-10 knots, gusting 10-13, from a south-southwesterly direction, shifting slightly to south-southeasterly at 7-9 knots from 16:00.

Wave height will max out at around 1m once more.

It’s set to be another cloudy day, with temperatures of around 31°C.

Racing will begin at around 12:00 for the five Olympic events who finish fleet racing today.

The Medal Races will start at 13:30 for the 49erFX, with the 49er and RS:X Women following at 14:30, and the RS:X Men and Nacra 17 rounding off the day at 15:30.
