The sailing community is mourning the loss of Jack Lloyd who sadly passed away in New Zealand on Friday 10th September.
Lloyd was involved with World Sailing from 1997 as an International Judge. He then went on to be an International Umpire (1999), Vice-Chairman of the International Judges Sub-Committee (2009-2012), Racing Rules Committee Member (2005-2012) and International Umpires Sub Committee Member (2005-2008).
Lloyd was also a two-time Ocean Race Director, as well as Race Jury for previous editions of the race. One of the most respected in his field, he also acted as rules advisor to multiple America’s Cup teams and the New Zealand Olympic team.
Much loved and admired, Lloyd made a huge impact on anyone that met him, not only for his expertise and knowledge but due to his willingness to help and support anyone forging their way in the sport.
World Sailing sends its condolences to his wife, Joss as well as the couple’s two children, Ria and Koby.
