Reaching the Halfway Mark

The regatta reaches the midpoint today and patterns are beginning to emerge in most fleets. There’s a lot of catching up to do in the Windsurfing fleets however, and both the boys and girls on the Youth iQFOiL boards are scheduled to take on eight back-to-back races this afternoon.

The forecast is for hot temperatures and light winds of 7 to 10 knots up to midday, dropping to 5 to 8 knots in the afternoon, and clocking around from the south-west to the north-west throughout the day. With the strong currents of Scheveningen the race committee has a big challenge to complete a full schedule of racing today.

There are five course areas, with a slightly later start to racing today:

• Course A – from 1400 hours, eight races each for Windsurfing Male and Female (Youth iQFOiL)
• Course B – at 1200 hours, three races for Male Skiff (29er), then three races for Female Skiff at 1530 hours
• Course C – at 1200 hours, three races each for One Person Dinghy Male and Female fleets (ILCA 6 class), then four races for Multihull Mixed (Nacra 15 class) from 1500 hours
• Course D – at 1200 hours, two races for the Male/Mixed 420 fleet and at 1530 hours two races for the Female 420 fleet
• Course E – at 1400 hours, five races each for Kiteboarding Male and Female (FormulaKite)
