Team France beats Great Britain in eSailing Nations Cup Grand Final to retain title
The top four teams in this year’s eSailing Nations Cup faced off in a two-night live spectacle of the sport.
Coincidentally, both the Grand Final and the Petite Final were repeats of last year as Team France took on Team Great Britain, themselves champions in 2020. History repeated itself, however, and France triumphed 6-3 in the best of nine series to take their second consecutive title.
Spain faced Italy in the Petite Final for the second year running, but this time the roles were reversed and Spain won 6-3 to finish third.
Carlos Paz Blanco, captain of Team Spain, said, “All the racing in this tournament is enjoyable. Italy is a really good team and I think any of the four final teams would be worthy winners. We are very happy, especially after a disappointing semi-final, but the team worked well together and today. I hope we will be back in 2023.”
Each final took place over nine races, including one-on-one Star races, two-on-two F50, three-on-three Laser, four-on-four J70 and Fareast 28r, five-on-five Offshore Racer and 10-on-10 in both 49er and a final round in the Nacra 17 – the fastest class in the competition.

Action now shifts to Alicante, Spain, on 7 January 2023 for the eSailing World Championship Finals.
Many of the players from the eSailing Nations Cup finals will be involved, including Alexandre Kowalsky (TRAP-AlexK) and Gaétan de Kat (gadek) from winners France, Arthur Farley from Great Britain, Alberto Carrero (MCES-Alberto), Amos Di Benedetto (AmosDB) and Filippo Lanfranchi (Velista 71 LDLN) from Italy.
