The Frenchman, who began Esailing at 18 years old, now receives the Olympic Esports Series 2023 trophy – the fourth Esailing accolade of his career after two wins at the Esailing Nations Cup and last year’s French national title.

Speaking after the final race, Tim said, “It was an amazing experience playing with the best players in the world and being with a lot of good esports games.

“…and I won, so I’m very happy.”

The 11 finalists were made up of eight winners from the qualifying rounds, the top ranked male and top ranked female players and a Singaporean wildcard entry.

They sailed over eight races rotating through the ILCA, 49er, J70 and Nacra 17 classes on the virtual waters of Singapore.

Offshore

The Offshore category saw over 27,000 Esailors race around the virtual globe from Singapore to Singapore for over 30 days earlier this year.

The top three Esailors were presented with their trophies live on stage during the finals of the Olympic Esports Series 2023 Sailing Event.

“I have been working hard for three years to be the best at this game and this is the accomplishment of these three years of training”

David Graham, World Sailing CEO, said, “The level of talent on show here at the inaugural Olympic Esports Week underlines the cerebral elements of sailing and demonstrates both the intricacies of the sport and the concentration required to succeed at the highest level.

“Esailing has grown rapidly in popularity in recent years to become a diverse and challenging competition with championships all over the world throughout the year, and we look forward to even more new and already active sailors taking part after being inspired by the action this week in Singapore.”

CEO of Virtual Regatta, Oliver Comte, added, “To have this recognition on the Olympic stage on Olympic Day is great to see.

“Being French myself, I was thrilled to see Pepitõ and our French offshore winners pick up their trophies. But even more fantastic was seeing such a diverse and multi national mix of Esailors taking part.

“When you love sailing and gaming, it’s a special day. In our partnership with World Sailing it’s wonderful we are able to come together to present an exciting racing format.

“The future is bright for Esailing and I’m looking forward to the next steps for Virtual Regatta, World Sailing and the Olympic Esports Series.”
