In Memoriam: Ron Yaffe

The sailing community is mourning the loss of Ron Yaffe who sadly passed away recently.

An enthusiastic sailor, Ron was dedicated to justice, fairness, and the art of sailing, which garnered him respect and admiration across borders.

Ron had been an International Judge and International Race Officer since 2002 and a member of the Regulations Committee with the Israel Sailing Association. However, his presence extended far beyond these roles.

He was popular amongst fellow club members and admired for his great and infectious enjoyment of racing and cruising, as well as his sense of fun and humour.

Ron was a co-founder of the Michmoret Sailing Club, an institution that introduced countless young minds to the beauty of the sea and the thrill of water sports. His commitment to fostering a love for the maritime world demonstrated his true passion for sharing the wonders of nature with the next generation.

World Sailing had the pleasure of working closely with Ron for many years and sends its deepest condolences to his family at this time.

Ron was a true gentleman, loved and respected by everyone who knew and worked with him, and he will be sorely missed by everyone in sailing.
