September’s World Sailing Show focuses on America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta

The September edition of the World Sailing Show focuses on preparations for the 37th America’s Cup Barcelona with the first Preliminary Regatta already providing a tantalising glimpse at the action yet to come.

There is also an in-depth look at the progress of Olympic qualification following the 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championships, The Hague, and with events on every continent rapidly approaching ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Olympic qualifying is well underway with the Paris 2024 Sailing competition in Marseille less than a year away. The World Sailing Show has all the details and catches up with the most recent qualifiers, including new Formula Kite world champion Max Maeder of Singapore, 49erFX world champions Rebecca Netzler and Vilma Bobeck of Sweden, and Nacra 17 world and Olympic champions – as well as 2022 Rolex World Sailors of the Yea, Ruggero Tita and Catarina Banti of Italy.

Elsewhere, the World Sailing Show recaps the Solitaire du Figaro for the 54th edition of the race. The event will be held over three legs starting in Caen, with each leg expected to take three days. Competitors would first head to Kinsale on the southern coast of Ireland before reaching the Isle of Man and heading back to the Bay of Biscay to Spain and then back to the French coast.

The fleet included five women, six non-French sailors and 10 rookies, and the show catches up with the front runners from every stage.

The Rolex TP52 World Championship reached Barcelona for the penultimate leg of this year’s competition. Following all the action, the World Sailing Show goes on board with leaders Provezza and the main challengers Gladiator and Alegre.
