Racing resumed today for all nine Olympic fleets with testing conditions in Algarrobo. Big swell rolled through the race areas alongside a building breeze throughout the day. The difficult circumstances produced separation in the fleets between those that could use it to their advantage and those that struggled to stay upright.

In the iQFOiL Men, Ethan Westera ARU posted an impressive 5, 1, 2, 1 and 1 today, extending an already comfortable lead to seven points over second place American Noah Lyons.

The iQFOiL Women tackled five races today with Maria Belen Bazo German having an almost flawless day with 1, 2, 1, 1, and 1. She leads overall after nine races by just a single point to Mexican Mariana Aguilar Chavez Peon.

The competitive ILCA 6 fleet raced three races, with American Erika Rose Reineke proving unstoppable taking every win. Friend and training partner Sarah Douglas of Canada follows closely, three points behind overall. Argentinian Luciana Andrea Cardozo is in third on 12 points.

Out in front with a solid lead, two-time Olympian Stefano Peschiera Loret De Mola PER is dominating the ILCA 7 fleet by 7 points after 5 races. Local hero Clemente Germán Seguel Lacámara from Chile sits in second. However just two points behind, third to sixth place are tied on 16 points.

Balancing on foils in such tough seas is no easy feat. The Mixed Multihull Nacra 17 got in 4 races starting from midday local time. The Argentinian team of Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco remain the ones to beat with four bullets.

Having already qualified the national spot for Paris 2024 at the Allianz Sailing World Championships in The Hague, Mateo Majdalani and his crew look to continue the success with a win here.

‘We got four bullets, but for sure it was not easy. Especially the first races, there were nice battles with the other teams. But overall, really happy with our day. It helps a lot in our campaign, so we take it day by day and try to sail fast.’

Ian Barrows and Hans Henken USA have a strong lead with 8 points in the 49er fleet. Their closest rivals, Hernan Ricardo Umpierre Odini and Fernando Diz Becerra URU are tied on 13 points with Canadians William Richard Jones and Justin Barnes.

Three more races in the 49erFX extend Martine Soffiatti Grael and Kahena Kunze lead with the pair taking all three wins. They sit at the top of the table after Race 6 on five points. USA’s Stephanie Roble and Margaret Shea are following closely behind, currently in second.

In the Formula Kite Men despite the DNF two days ago, Brazilian Bruno Chaves Costa Lobo Ferreira has continued his unbeaten streak winning all four races today.

Daniela Moroz USA tops the Formula Kite Women after 8 races by two points, in front of Maria Catalina Turienzo ARG.
