ALGARROBO, CHILE - OCT 31.

Blue skies, big waves, shifting winds and exceptional racing at the Pan American Games

Beautiful conditions made for some exceptional racing today with blue skies, big waves and shifting winds.

In the Formula Kite Men, Bruno Chaves Costa Lobo Ferreira BRA looks unstoppable with four bullets in as many races. Stretching out in the lead on 9 points. Second place overall is currently a close battle between Tiger Peter Cyril Tyson ANT and Markus Edegran USA. One point separates them after 12 races.

American Daniela Moroz has found her groove taking all four race wins today, she sits on top with nine points. Argentinian Maria Catalina Turienzo is in second place on 16 points.

In the iQFOiL Men, Ethan Westera ARU remains top on 16 points with a 3, 1, 2 and a UFD in race 13 for being over the line early. A penalty also received by Noah Lyons USA, the current second place overall, in the same race.

Westera said, “My week’s been pretty good so far, conditions have been tricky, like big swell, really puffy, shifty but I’ve been managing to do pretty good. The big swell’s definitely pretty new to me but it’s not too challenging. They’re like slow moving mountains as compared to like speed bumps.”

After 13 races, the iQFOiL Women are tied at the top on 16 points each. Peruvian Maria Belen Bazo German continues to duel with Mexican Mariana Aguilar Chavez Peon.

“We did 4 slalom races, I didn’t start so good but I could win the last race so I finished the day with a good feeling,” said Belen Bazo German PER.

Just one race for both ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets today. Despite a fourth-place finish Stefano Peschiera Loret De Mola remains in first place in the ILCA 7. A win today ties Francisco Guaragna Rigonat ARG and Clemente Germán Seguel Lacámara CHI for second on 17 points. 44-year-old Brazilian Bruno Fontes Ferreira Da Silva follows closely on 18 points after a second today.

The back-and-fourth north American battle continues as Sarah Douglas CAN took today’s race win in the ILCA 6 with Erika Rose Reineke USA in second.

Continuing their flawless performance Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco from Argentina dominate the Mixed Multihull Nacra 17. Pulling away at the top on just 5 points after 6 races. The USA team of Sarah Newberry-Moore and David Liebenberg lie second on 11 points.
