Double champions France among countries competing for 2023 eSailing Nations Cup glory
Eight nations are lining up against one another in a series of head-to-head team races on the virtual seas of Marseille.
Last year, France did the double, beating rivals Great Britain for the second time in a row after a convincing 6-3 triumph in a best-of-nine series.
France will look to prevail again with the opportunity to select their team from an impressive player pool that includes 2022 world champion Alexandre Kowalski, and 2023 world champion Tristan Peron.
Italy will also be fierce competition. The fourth-place finishers in last year’s Nations Cup will be looking for podium redemption after their loss to third-place finishers Spain.
Each of the eight teams will face off in a round-robin group stage. The top two performing teams from each group will then progress to a semi-final stage before battling in a bronze and grand final respectively.
The group stage will be a best-of-five series. The schedule of races is two-on-two Star (mixed), three-on-three Offshore Racer, four-on-four J70, four-on-four ILCA and three-on-three F50.
The semi-final, bronze-final and grand final will be a best-of-nine series. The schedule of races is two-on-two Star (mixed), three-on-three Offshore Racer, four-on-four J70, three-on-three F50, five-on-five Nacra17, four-on-four ILCA, three-on-three J70, two-on-two F50 and five-on-five 49er.
