World Sailing confirms Elections Disciplinary appointments

The following persons have been appointed until the conclusion of the World Sailing Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections on 9 November 2024. Their role will be to ensure that any alleged breaches of the Election Rules are processed in accordance with the Election Rules, the World Sailing Regulations and the Judicial Procedures for Elections.

Elections Disciplinary Ad Hoc Investigator:

Loïc Loutan (SUI)  

Born in 1987, Loïc Loutan was educated at the University of Lausanne (BLaw, 2010) and at the University of Neuchâtel (MLaw, in sports law, 2013). He was admitted to the Bar in Lausanne in 2017. Loïc Loutan was an associate in a renowned local law firm in the canton of Vaud and then a major Swiss law firm. He was appointed as the Secretary of the Union Cycliste Internationale Ethics Commission under two presidencies and worked in-house, as the Legal Counsel of World Aquatics and now at the University of Lausanne.

Elections Disciplinary Ad Hoc Panel:

Alberto Roigé Godia (ESP)

Alberto Roigé Godia is a Spanish sports lawyer based in Switzerland. Serving as the Legal Director of the International Boxing Association, he also offers independent legal services and provides pro bono support to individuals in need within various sports institutions.

Ian Hunt (NZL)

Lawyer with extensive sports governance experience and member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Sport Resolutions International Panel, International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Ethics Committee, FIA Anti-Doping Committee, World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal and World Aquatics Legal Ad Hoc Committee.

Skye Miller (AUS)

An Australian lawyer with extensive sports law experience. She has acted for sporting organisations including Basketball Australia, Volleyball Australia, the Australian Football League and the West Australian Football Commission in relation to sports integrity issues. She is a currently director of Netball Western Australia (NWA) and the West Coast Fever Super Netball team. In this role she also chairs NWA’s Governance and Nominations Committee.

Kumudavalli S (IND)

Kumudavalli is an International Sports Lawyer with over eight years of experience and specific interest in sports governance. She regularly advises on disciplinary and ethical issues and governance policies apart from being a litigating lawyer. She has also been the principal legal counsel for the elections of the AIFF, the IOA and the PCI, in India.

The members were carefully recruited to ensure global representation with a balance of experience and expertise in sports law and sports governance.

World Sailing’s Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections will be held in November 2024 in Singapore. Under its reformed governance structure, World Sailing aims to ensure robust and transparent election processes not just for the election itself but also throughout the campaign period leading up to the elections.
