World Sailing Championships host broadcast tenders invited

World Sailing would value a partnership with providers that can provide fresh thinking and innovative approaches to reaching new audiences across both World Sailing Championship regattas. 

About the World Sailing Championships

Every four-year Olympic cycle the world governing body of sailing – World Sailing – stages a combined Olympic and Para Inclusion world championships: the World Sailing Championships. The regatta is the official world championship for each Olympic class in that year.  

In 2027, one year out from LA28, the World Sailing Championships will be held across two regattas in Brazil, in mid-January, and Poland, in July/August. 

The 10 Olympic events will be divided into two groups that will race for their world championship in either Fortaleza, Brazil, or Gdynia, Poland. They will be joined by Parasailing events competing for their world championships, as well as inclusion and invited events. 

World Sailing expects approximately 500 entries at each of the two regattas with approximately 700 athletes plus support crew and coaches from 84 nations at each regatta. Racing will take place on large fields of play of around 30sqkm with up to four separate racing areas.

Because of the specialist nature of the production and distribution the RFP is divided into six packages, some of which require specialist sailing expertise and equipment.  

Responding companies are invited to tender for one or more of the packages either by deploying their own expertise and experience or by connecting with specialists to provide specific expertise and equipment.

RFP process

World Sailing’s objective is to appoint a host broadcast partner or partners with premium-level international broadcast credentials and a distribution agency with a proven programme distribution track record. Because there is a requirement for specialist knowledge and experience in the coverage and production of sailing broadcasts, World Sailing is looking for RFP responses that demonstrate that combination of premium-level broadcast and sailing knowledge and experience, or the ability to secure it. 

World Sailing is requesting Expressions of Interest from which an initial Long List will be compiled. All RFP information will be provided to Long List companies.
