Technical Courses for Coaches
Overview:
World Sailing offers three different level courses that aim to up-skill and certify Coaches and Instructors around the world. These courses are run by World Sailing Nominated experts and take place when organised with a World Sailing Member National Authority (MNA).
The course levels are as follows:
- Level 1 Technical Course for Coaches – Sailing Instructor
- Level 2 Technical Course for Coaches – Club Race Coach
- Level 3 Technical Course for Coaches – Performance Coach
Use the sections below to find out more about each of the levels.
How to organise a course:
If you are interested in organising a course, please consider firstly which level would be most appropriate for the team you already have and what you are trying to achieve. It is also important to consider a suitable location, time of year (course include both classroom and on the water activities) as well who you would like to attend. For more information and assistance with planning, please contact the Training and Development team.
There are two ways to fund a course:
- Private Funding – Courses can be requested by World Sailing MNAs. MNA’s would cover the costs for the Coach Developer attending and running the course, as well as all local costs.
- Olympic Solidarity Funding – Courses can be funded through Olympic Solidarity. An MNA would need to contact World Sailing for advice on completing an application with their National Olympic Committee. For more information on Olympic Solidarity click here.
