Applying to be an International Judge
Documents to assist with first time applications and renewals.
First Time Applications
World Sailing Race Officials Administration is governed by Section 3 of the World Sailing Regulations with specific critera outlined with the document ‘Race Official Roles, Qualifications and Competences’.
All candidates must ensure they have read the relevant Regulations in full in order to understand the complete qualifcations required to become an International Judge. (Regulation 31 of the World Sailing Regulations).
To use the application platform to begin collecting references for a future application, please use the Event Reference Manual.
Renewals
A candidate for re-appointment as an International Judge shall follow the requirements of the Race Officials Roles, Qualifications and Competencies Document, either complying with the requirements of System 1, except for item (a) and (d) or with the requirements of System 2.
System 2 requires the passing of the World Sailing re-examination for the discipline:

Rule 42
Rule 42 of the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing relates to “Propulsion”. The Basic Rule (RRS 42.1) states that:
Except when permitted in rule 42.3 or 45, a boat shall compete by using only the wind and water to increase, maintain or decrease her speed. Her crew may adjust the trim of sails and hull, and perform other acts of seamanship, but shall not otherwise move their bodies to propel the boat.
